RoomsNmates Terms of Use
Version: 2026-09-23-connected-beta-v2. Private-beta terms, subject to qualified legal review before public release.
Operator and contact
RoomsNmates is operated by Tony Gonzalez, an individual, under the RoomsNmates app name. Contact: [email protected]. These terms do not represent RoomsNmates as an LLC or corporation.
Adults only; United States beta
You must be at least 18, provide truthful information, and use only your own account. Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent your age, share credentials, or help a minor use the service. The beta uses a self-declared birth date and email confirmation; these are not independent identity or age verification. Access is limited to invited testers in the United States.
What the service does, and does not do
RoomsNmates provides tools for room listings, profiles, and communications. It is not a party to a rental agreement, a property inspection service, an emergency service, or a background-check provider. No profile, photo, listing, approval, or paid status is a guarantee of identity, safety, lawful authority, compatibility, property condition, or truthfulness. Any future verification claim must identify exactly what was checked and its limitations.
Meeting and housing risks
Interactions with others can involve fraud, theft, harassment, discrimination, property loss, physical injury, or other harm. Make independent decisions. Meet initially in public, tell a trusted person your plans, inspect the property, verify the person's right to offer it, and read the lease before signing or paying. Do not send deposits based only on an app conversation. Leave unsafe situations and contact emergency services when necessary. Acknowledging these risks is not a blanket release of claims for personal injury or nonwaivable rights.
Community and listing rules
No threats, harassment, stalking, scams, impersonation, doxxing, sexual exploitation, child exploitation, illegal content, discriminatory housing advertising, or unlawful conduct. Do not publish financial details, government IDs, another person's information, or an exact residential address. Advertise only housing you are authorized to offer. Upload only accurate material and photos you have the right to use. Users are responsible for complying with applicable housing and other laws. Do not treat a roommate preference as permission to post unlawful discriminatory advertisements.
Content permission and privacy
You retain your rights in your content. You give the operator a nonexclusive permission to store, display to intended recipients, transmit, format, and moderate that content as reasonably necessary to provide the service and handle safety or legal obligations. This is not a transfer of ownership. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted; authorized operation and safety review may require access. Do not send sensitive information through the beta.
Reports, blocking, moderation, and appeals
Report a profile, listing, or conversation in the app; block accounts to prevent new messages in either direction. Reports are stored for operator review, not monitored as an emergency service. The operator may remove content or restrict access for safety, legal compliance, or violations, and may preserve relevant evidence when justified. Listings require review before discovery. Review is not verification or endorsement. To raise a concern or appeal, email the support address. The beta is not staffed around the clock.
Subscriptions
Both hosts and room seekers need an active Premium subscription to read incoming message content, including inquiries about their own room and replies to messages they sent. One subscription covers both roles on the same account. A free account can see that a message is locked, but receives no message-body preview. Browsing and posting one active room listing remain free. When paid access ends, incoming message content is locked again. Previously read information or screenshots cannot be revoked. Sending remains subject to a 30-message rolling-hour anti-spam limit.
Premium is a monthly Google Play subscription, with a US price of $7.99 per month; the actual localized Google Play price is displayed before purchase. It renews automatically until canceled. No free trial is offered. Cancel through Google Play subscriptions; access continues through the paid period, subject to payment status. Reporting, blocking, safety information, privacy requests, and deletion requests do not require payment. Account deletion does not itself cancel Google Play subscriptions. Subscribing does not guarantee replies, housing, compatible roommates, identity verification, or safety.
Service limitations and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not responsible for the independent acts or omissions of other users, inaccurate user-provided listings, rental agreements made between users, or losses arising from meetings or housing arrangements independently organized by users. This limitation does not excuse the operator's own conduct where liability cannot legally be excluded, and it does not override the exceptions below. Users should independently evaluate people, properties, payments, and agreements rather than rely on the service as a guarantee.
This private beta is provided as available and may have errors, downtime, or data loss. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator disclaims implied warranties and liability for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the beta. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, limits nonwaivable consumer rights, or excuses conduct for which applicable law prohibits a disclaimer. No fixed liability cap, mandatory arbitration, or broad indemnity is imposed in this draft. These terms do not promise legal immunity to the operator.
Leaving the service and changes
You may stop using the app and request account deletion in Settings or by email. Content is hidden when an in-app deletion request is submitted. Routine verified requests are automatically processed; exceptions require operator review, subject to the privacy notice and any justified retention. Material changes will require updated notice and, where appropriate, renewed assent. These beta terms do not substitute for a lease or for advice from your own attorney.
